2 More Days!!

Only 2 more days of preschool classes left!  Then a couple of more days to get the room ready for next year and I'll be done with work at Polton Preschool.  I really enjoyed my time there, but I'm excited to move on.  As some of you may already know, I'm finally going to be starting college.  I found a great program at UNC (University of Northern Colorado).  I will be working in the mornings as a Special Ed Para, then going to classes at UNC in the afternoon.  In 4 years I'll have my degree and be licensed to teach Special Education.

Grace and Lucas only have 4 and a half days of school left.  They are itching to get their summer vacation started!  They're really excited about taking the train to go see Grandma and Grandpa Weening.  I'm looking forward to not having to do all the driving.  It will be nice to let someone else take care of the transportation for once!  We'll sit back and enjoy the ride!  I've never been on an Amtrak train and neither have the kids so it will be a new experience for all of us.

Summer can't come soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!

Memorial Day

Just a few quotes to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

And they who for their country die shall fill an honored grave, for glory lights the soldier’s tomb, and beauty weeps the brave. - Joseph Rodman Drake

They are dead; but they live in each Patriot’s breast,
And their names are engraven on honor’s bright crest.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Better to fight for something than live for nothing. - George S Patton

I regret that I have but one life to give for my country
- Nathan Hale

For love of country they accepted death... - James A. Garfield

You all knew that some things are worth dying for. One's country is worth dying for, and democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man. All of you loved liberty. All of you were willing to fight tyranny, and you knew the people of your countries were behind you
Ronald Reagan's Remarks on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day

The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation.
- George Washington

Tooth Fairy

Look what the Tooth Fairy left for Grace!

Grace lost her tooth on Friday and set the tooth out for the Tooth Fairy on Friday night.  When she woke up Saturday morning, the tooth was still there!  I told her that the Tooth Fairy was probably having a very busy night, don't worry she'll get your tooth soon.  So we left it there for Saturday night and come Sunday morning, the tooth was STILL there!  Poor Grace was a little concerned that the Tooth Fairy had forgotten her.  I reassured her that the Tooth Fairy never forgets, she just gets busy sometimes.  Thank goodness Monday morning the tooth was gone and along with her 4 quarters was a little note from the Tooth Fairy herself!  :)

Lucas' Birthday

Here are the pictures from Lucas' 7th Birthday.  We had the party towards the end of January when Michael got back from CST.  It was a video game themed sleepover.  My friend Lisa made an awesome DS and Wii Remote cake for the birthday boy.  The kids had a great time playing video games and staying up late!  (Click on a picture to see it full size)
